Right Hand Rings and the Decline of America

Okay....so maybe that's a little dramatic. But I came across something online today that sort of encapsulates what bothers me about the way "we" (too many for it to be a good thing) just don't think.

From a family blog:
"Also, it was my birthday just over a week ago and my wonderful husband bought me a beautiful right hand ring! So I am adding a picture of it. I love it! "

Um....the whole POINT of the Right Hand Ring is to celebrate your independence -- it was the heart and soul of the campaign that launched the trend (the trend of tapping the market of single girls to encourage them to buy diamonds for themselves rather than waiting for a man to get the job done):

"Your left hand lives for love. Your right hand lives for the moment," and "Your left hand declares your commitment. Your right hand is a declaration of independence."

So......where's the independence of a woman who doesn't buy her own right hand freakin' ring?

It just stops being a right hand ring the moment someone gives it to you. So say your hubby gave you a pretty ring or whatever....but take two seconds to think it through, okay?

Test For Echo

Oh my gawd this is awesome......not a single soul has even stumbled across this blog.

It's like being the only kid on the playground - it's freakin' awesome because then you get all the equipment to yourself and you don't have to wait in line or wait for some other dumb-ass kid to figure out that sliding down the slide backward isn't as much fun as it seems like it might be....but at the same time...it's a little lonely...because without that dumb kid and all the others - there's no one to chase, no one to watch and get new ideas from, no way to make new friends or really raise the adrenaline bar.

**Hellooo?** **Hellooo?**

... ...

**Anybody OUT there?!** **Anybody OUT there?!**

Nope. Just me and my echo.

Oh by the way -- it's really dumb that the profile counter doesn't distinguish between self-hits, refresh page loads, and an actual person coming to visit.

Kitties and Engineers

This is just funny. You don't have to know an engineer for this to be funny (but of course that helps). I have two brothers - they're both engineers - but more than anything this reminded me of the IT guy at work....who can't explain anything without making it more difficult than it needs to be....bless his little heart.

Hmmm....that Paul is pretty damn cute.

Good Morning!

Well....I'm not going to end up saying anything particularly interesting or profound this morning -- because this is my first little post. Just....sort of a "test" if you will to see what this ends up looking like.

There's really no reason anyone would end up seeing this - but if you happen across this - let me say "Hello!" I hope you're happy in your life....I hope things are going well....and I hope you'll come back here to visit me.

You won't find a lot of talk of politics (though that may come up) - you won't find a lot of talk about getting drunk or partying or (though that may come up ...in a "how stupid is it to waste your life..." kind of way) - and you won't find a lot of talk about War Hammer or Dungeons and Dragons (though that may... - no, that won't come up. Well, maybe...I'll talk about just about anything).

I'm not afraid to tell you I don't know something - so you may find me asking a bunch of questions - like: ....Well, I can't think of anything right now - but trust me - I'll be asking a bunch of questions.

Oh! You'll also find I use a lot of quotes and dashes and ellipsis when I type...it's just how my mind works - I don't pretend to use them properly......or maybe just using them the way you want to use them is using them properly. Hey! There's a question right there. Is there a right way and wrong way to use dashes and ellipsis? Of course there is....I'm sure of it. There's rules about everything.

Anyhoo - that's enough "blah, blah, blah" for now......

Hope to talk to you soon!

Oh! And another thing.... Feel free to leave comments -- leave as many as you like -- as long as they're sincere - I'm not interested in reading garbage from some ass, like "you suck" and seeing links to sick photo's. If you do that - you're a douche bag.

Later!
